premier chamber choirs!

Consider joining an innovative, 24-voice chamber choir that presents exciting and refined performances of (primarily) a cappella repertoire.

Who Are We? 

Performing a wide range of eclectic and engaging choral music from the last 600 years, SFCA is recognized for our expressive singing, nuanced performances, and wide-ranging repertoire. We work closely with composers, have premiered over 300 works, and received prizes from national organizations.  (Listen to some examples…)

Talented singers may inquire here throughout the year, however, most auditions occur June through August.  Please use the form below ↓.

Singers Should Have:

  • Extensive choral experience

  • Solo potential

  • Excellent reading and musicianship skills

  • Dedication to the art of chamber singing

Rehearsals

Most Monday evenings, from 7-10 PM, in San Francisco

Compensation

Modest financial compensation is offered for rehearsals and concerts.

Concerts

Our concerts take place in December, March and June each season. Each concert set is performed three times (in San Francisco, Oakland, and Palo Alto). There are usually a few additional performances.

Auditions Include:

  • Vocalizing

  • Assessment of vocal instrument and aural skills

  • Tonal and atonal sight-reading

  • Two prepared (but not memorized) works of contrasting style and language.
