SEVEN CENTURIES OF CHRISTMAS
Join us for time travel through seven centuries of Christmas
celebrations! Revel in the best and most beloved music, and be the
first to hear the songs we might sing for the next 100 years. Featuring
the world premiere of Ted Allen's Earth's Winter Song, a work for
double choir that entwines contemporary themes of beauty and strife with
Christmas music of the 13th through 18th centuries.

A WHOLE LOTTA NOYSE
SFCA collaborates with the illustrious Early Music wind band The Whole Noyse for music from many centuries for voices and instruments. We sample the treasures of Medieval and Renaissance music, and carry these sounds into today with new works for voices and shawms, sackbuts, and cornetti. Includes a world premiere from Composer-in-Residence Ted Allen--whose musical associations have included Metallica and the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine Wind Band, as well as Sega and Nintendo!

RE-CYCLE, RE-VIEW, SING NEW!
How do composers take materials at hand to fashion something new? Whether borrowed or stolen, for fun or propaganda--or desperate when deadlines loom--composers exploit existing musical resources. By recycling tunes and texts, plainchant, hymns, and drinking songs are re-purposed in new forms with fresh harmony. Featuring the winner of our 5th New Voices Competition.
